3-1050x525Kenyan parents can enroll their children at the Young Engineers Kenya, an organization that imparts the knowledge of science, technology and mathematics (STEM) through the use of Lego bricks.

“There are other methods of teaching STEM but this particular program employs the use of Lego bricks,” said Faith Gathungu the director of the organization. “It is a fun way of teaching that is entertaining to young minds and allows them to be creative as they learn.”

Indeed, according to the learning website, education.com, the use of Legos in teaching children can equip them with excellent problem solving skills; develop an important inner confidence, hone team-building abilities and technical skills.

“Believe it or not, children who learn using Legos could be learning important skills for the professional world. A lot of architects and engineers have translated a childhood love of Legos to a career of building and designing,” read the article titled, The Learning Power of Lego.

For the Young Engineers Kenya, its Lego STEM program, does not follow any set curriculum program thus it can be incorporated in the 844 educational system or any other international one.

Its program is for children age 3 to 12 years however their classes are divided in two for the 3 to 6 year old and 7 to 12 year old.

It is offered at their centre which is located off Riara Road or they can implement it at any interested parties’ schools.

The charges for a month are Sh6000 at the centre or Sh8000 for 10weeks for them to implement it at a school.

The classes are from 3 to 5pm everyday but on Saturday they are open the whole day.
