Kenyan parents who are looking to let their kids have fun despite the light rain experienced in the last few days can do so at play city, an indoor playground at Garden Estate
The playground is open every day and it includes activities such as trampoline, bouncy castles and clowns among others.
“It is strictly a playing area for children, we do not have a sitting area for parents,” said Susan Mwarua, the founder of the playground. “We wanted to create a fun area for kids, where they can feel free to express and enjoy themselves with their peers.
“At the playground, we have minders; these are the people who look after the kids at each corner of the playground to ensure that they do not injure themselves and that the activities are safe before the playing on them.”
For special events such as birthdays, the event organizers can arrange for a unique party. “If a parent wants to hold a special event for their child at the venue, we advise them to call us and book a date and we will reserve it for them,” said Susan. “We also have additional services such as setting up theme parties and we can even take the party to the parent’s desired venue.”
In such a case, the organizer will take their own party merchandise is taken to the parent’s desired venue then the organizers will come with everything. “For a themed party for example, we will bring cups, plates and decorations that suit the theme. If the parents want more entertainment for the kid such as bouncy castles, trampolines, clowns or face painting, we can also provide them at a fee,” said Susan. “What we advise them to do is to tell us the set up is for how many kids and from there, we are able to tell them the kind of party we can organize for that number of kids, we can then tailor make a quotation for them.”
Susan Mwaura was inspired to start the indoor playground after working for several years as an event organizer. “The best part of my job then was working with children, which was what inspired me to start an indoor playground just for them that they would enjoy.”
