Expectant moms can now dress and look trendy, thanks to Mimba, an online maternity store now offering them a chance to shop online and pay by Cash, ZAP or Mpesa.
Started in January this year, Mimba stocks maternity dresses, tops, shorts, trousers and skirts; and plans to, in the near future include swim wear, gift items lounge wear and diaper bags. Shazmin who started the shop says she did so because there were no good quality maternity wear in the market and wanted give women choices for them to look ‘beautiful, attractive and sexy when they are pregnant,’ Her choice for an online shop was because ‘that’s the direction in the future of shopping,’ and one can easily shop from the comfort of her office or home. All the clothes at Mimba are imported including from reputable designers in South Africa, then adjusted to suit our market in terms of trends, designs and color; and ‘the quality is not compromising,’ The adds on new stock every season including summer, during the holidays to include clothes for parties and during winter. Shazmin says the clients’ reponse to the online shopping has been ‘amazing’ and they do regular deliveries and also allow people to see the clothes on appointments especially in the evenings and on weekends. Shazmin also does home visits for those who wants to see the clothes before they buy but this is at a fee. Delivery within Nairobi is free and within 24 hours for orders placed before 6pm on weekdays; while orders outside Nairobi are sent by Courier at the standard courier rate and delivered the next day.
