Party Supplies Kenya, an outlet that specializes in themed party supplies for kids’ birthday parties, weddings and baby showers has opened a shop at Westgate Mall, allowing parents to walk in and shop for items to throw fantastic parties for their kids.
From Hannah Montana to Winnie the Poo, Bakugan, Spiderman, Ben 10,The Princess and the Frog, first birthday.. the shop stocks over a dozen party themes for plates, forks, napkins, table cloths, dessert plates, and cups as well as other party supplies such as pinattas, decorations, party invites, favors, blowers, masks and banners among others.
Next week, party supplies will be bringing in more themed items for use not only during parties but also for everyday use, including cups and plates that are not disposable and can either be hand-washed or machine-washed; to add on to their rich stock.
Started January this year, Party Supplies Kenya has been selling the items online and only moved to Westgate this month, to reach out to more parents and ensure that parents put a smile on their kids’ faces.
Lisa Amenya, the proprietor of the shop, says she started the shop because in December, her son wanted a Bakugan party but she was disappointed because she could not get the supplies anywhere.
She realized that there may be other moms like her, who wanted the same things and were disappointed, and therefore started bringing in a few items at a time; started a facebook page to advertise , and eventually got the right stock, initially selling them from home.
Now the shop sells online and makes delivery within and outside Nairobi; with a free delivery for those clients within Nairobi who buy supplies worth Sh2500 and above; and for those outside Nairobi catering for the delivery fee.
Goods worth less than Sh2500 are however charged a delivery fee of Sh350 within Nairobi. Clients can also order for themes not in stock and have them delivered in a week.
Lisa says she loves the idea that she is selling things that make people happy, and the response by parents has been great.
All her products are imported  and of premium quality, she says, and she is happy that it is the customers who actually tell her about how good the quality is.
Among the most popular themes include Bakugan for older boys and Ben 10 for smaller boys; while Hannah Montana and Dora the Explorer are the most popular themes for girls.
Lisa makes themed pre-packed favor bags for kids as well; and have them delivered to schools and offices as well; as parents are now moving away from the traditional gift bags.
Lisa, who works MTV also organizes parties for kids as well as for grown ups from the invites to the thank you notes; with a discount if one uses Kenya Party Supplies items.
Lisa says she loves parties, and has been organizing parties for the last seven and half years; starting out with her son’s first birthday party where over fifty kids and their parents attended; but started doing it professionally three years ago because she found out that ‘nobody focused on kids’
She offers ‘balanced’ parties that cater for all present and has organized birthday parties for all ages including 40th birthdays. To organize a party, Lisa says she just requires a person’s age ,gender and personality to come up with a concept which she then discusses with the client and then coordinate the party in a couple of days.
Party Supplies Kenya website, www.partysupplieskenya.com also plans to, in the future, include guidlines and ideas on throwing parties as well as best venues, best entertainers, to ensure parents throw fantastic parties for their kids.
